Resizing in Photoshop allows you to print your images in standard photo sizes, preserve the quality of photos and enlarge small images to a relatively bigger size without getting pixellated.

Resizing to a specific size

To resize your image to a preset size, follow the steps below:

» Go to File > New.

» In the New dialog box, click on the Preset dropdown menu. You will see several preset sizes. Select the proper resolution fot the document.

» Choose the size that you want and click OK.

» Drag your photo to this file and adjust the size using transformation.

Resizing Digital Photos

Digital photos usually have large dimensions but low resolution which affects their quality when their size is modified. To resize them without affecting the quality, follow these steps:

» Open the digital photo you want to resize.

» Go to Image > Image Size.

» In the Image Size dialog box, check the Resample Image box. Type in your desired size and resolution.

Enlarging Images

Just increasing the dimensions from the Image Size dailog box will make the image appear pixilated. To enlarge the image without losing the quality, follow these steps:

» Open the image you wish to enlarge.

» Go to Image > Image Size.

» In the Image Size dialog box, make sure the Resample Image box is checked and choose Bicubic Smoother from the dropdown box.

» Change the Document Size measurements to Percent. Type in 110. This will increase the size of the image by 10 percent.

» Continue enlarging by 10 percent until you are satisfied with the size.
